Supporting recovery before and after surgery.
Surgery can be a significant event. Jasmine Health Care offers in-home and telehealth physiotherapy to help you prepare for surgery (“prehab”) and recover more effectively afterwards. This can help you build strength, reduce complications, and support your return to work or everyday life with confidence.
Led by experienced physiotherapist Glenys Walker, your rehabilitation program is designed specifically to meet your needs and any medical instructions. Whether you’re preparing for a joint replacement or recovering from a fracture or general surgery, we work alongside you to help you progress more safely, smoothly, and less stressfully.
Preparing for Surgery — Why Prehab Helps
Pre-operative physiotherapy, also known as prehab, helps set you up for a better recovery. Before your surgery, we will work with you to maximise your body’s movement and muscle strength. We’ll also help prepare you with techniques that will be useful after the procedure, such as how to move safely, get in and out of bed, or use a mobility aid.
This early preparation not only helps your body, but also supports your mindset — reducing anxiety and boosting your confidence before your hospital stay, also increasing your familiarity with the stages and processes.
Recovering at Home After Surgery
Once you’re home, we guide your rehabilitation according to your medical instructions, recovery timeline and home environment. Your personalised post-op plan will begin gently, at the right time, and gradually build at your pace as you recover.
You’ll receive one-on-one support that focuses on making progress while also improving your strength, mobility, posture, and safety. We can advise you on important things like navigating stairs, using mobility equipment, and managing pain so you feel more in control. We’ll keep your medical team updated as needed.
Your program is adjusted as your recovery continues — we’ll keep moving towards your goals, whether that means walking further, achieving certain tasks, regaining balance, or returning to activities.
