Do strength and balance programs work?

My 91-year-old parents still live in their retirement villa. They do a strength and balance program, although they sometimes need a little encouragement from the physiotherapist in the family to do it.

This week they accidentally collided with each other in the kitchen at an awkward angle, also getting tangled with feet and kitchen doors, and for a moment it looked as if one or both would fall. Fortunately each regained their balance and after a few moments of disbelief and amazement at having escaped a potentially life-changing incident, they went ahead with their plans for day. Note: whatever their plans they were much better than #ambulance and #Emergencydepartment.

Did the strength and balance program help them recover from being off-balance? The evidence says it probably did because they had more strength and balance. So don’t give up just because you or someone you care for are older or struggling to mobilise. Everyone has their challenges, so a strength and balance program tailored to you can help you stay on your feet and get more out of life.  Contact Jasmine Health Care for a home program to help avoid falls and their consequences.
