Persistent pain in the hip or knee is common. It has numerous origins and is a major cause of people being less active. It’s a sign of osteoarthritis (OA), sometimes not.
For hip or knee OA, it is now internationally recognised that of all first-line treatments available, the three MOST effective are:
- Education about your condition
- Therapeutic exercise
- AND weight loss if appropriate
So the recommendation is that no matter what is causing your pain, try guided therapeutic exercise before X-rays, strong medications or surgery. That is not to say you should never go down these medical pathways, but The Hip and Knee physiotherapy exercise program works for many people.
You will receive:
- Empowering education for you about your hip or knee pain
- Knowledge about moving and living better with knee pain
- An initial consultation and assessment from a trained physiotherapist
- 12 supervised sessions over 6 weeks
- A home program to do 2-3 times per week, in between sessions
- The support you need during the program to achieve your goals
- 3 and 6 months follow up
Consultations are via a home visit. Or telehealth on request – yes, this actually works!
